Patient Care Technician – Medical Eye Specialists Surgery Center
MES Surgery Center is a fast-paced ophthalmology ambulatory surgery center dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care. As a Patient Care Technician, you'll play a vital supporting role in the smooth operation of our pre- and post-operative areas — helping patients feel safe, comfortable, and cared for throughout their surgical experience.
In this position, you'll assist clinical staff with patient transport and positioning, obtain vital signs, perform bay turnovers between patients, maintain a clean and well-stocked environment, and provide warm, attentive care to every patient who walks through our doors. You'll work alongside surgeons, nurses, and front desk staff in a collaborative setting where reliability, attention to detail, and a positive attitude matter as much as technical skill.
This role is a great fit for someone who is friendly and professional, stays busy without being asked, and would genuinely enjoy making patients feel comfortable and reassured.
While it is preferred, no prior healthcare experience is required.
Duties
a) Is oriented to all surgical areas.
b) Works in a calm, orderly and efficient manner
c) Understands importance of keeping pre/post area clean and tidy
d) Assists with turning over patient bays between patients.
e) Cleans rooms (e.g., disinfects countertops, beds, and shared patient equipment, removes soiled linens, dresses beds, removes garbage)
f) Knows location of equipment and supplies
g) Stocks patient bays, maintains pre/post supply inventory.
h) Distributes clean linen to all appropriate areas, keeps blanket warmer stocked.
i) Prepares bed linens for upcoming patients.
j) Properly identifies patients using two patient identifiers per center policy.
k) Obtains and documents vital signs after training and competency assessment.
l) Assists patients to restroom or with urinals, bedpans, and emesis basins.
m) Assists patients to assigned preop bay, transports discharged patients to vehicle.
n) Assist with patient positioning in the pre/post area.
o) Assists in patient transport to operating or procedure rooms.
p) Brings patients refreshments postop of and warm blankets as needed.
q) Keeps the hallway free of clutter.
r) Checks/empties sharps containers throughout facility
s) Completes daily facility logs as required.
t) Assists with facility deep clean and outdates schedule.
u) Restocks hand sanitizers, soaps, paper towels, and bathroom supplies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
v) Provides coverage as front desk receptionist when necessary.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
