Patient Care Technician

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Patient Care Technician to join our healthcare team. This vital role involves providing direct patient care, assisting medical staff, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for patients. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a thorough understanding of hospital procedures and patient needs. Prior hospital experience and proficiency in various clinical techniques are highly valued. Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient assessments, including measuring vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature
  • Perform basic clinical procedures such as IV insertion, catheterization, venipuncture, and phlebotomy under supervision or independently as trained
  • Support patients with activities of daily living, including mobility, hygiene, and comfort measures
  • Monitor patient conditions and report any changes or concerns to nursing staff promptly
  • Maintain strict aseptic technique during all invasive procedures to prevent infections
  • Assist with suturing and wound care as part of the clinical team
  • Document patient information accurately in medical records using appropriate medical terminology
  • Support hospital staff during emergency situations utilizing basic life support skills
  • Follow all safety protocols and hospital policies to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff
  • Assist in preparing patients for diagnostic tests or procedures in accordance with physician orders

Experience

  • Prior hospital or acute care experience is preferred, especially in emergency room or intensive care settings
  • Proficiency in catheterization, IV insertion, venipuncture, phlebotomy, and suturing techniques is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to patient care
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are a plus
  • Experience with patient care in hospital medicine or emergency room environments is advantageous
  • Familiarity with aseptic techniques and infection control practices necessary for maintaining sterile procedures

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.69 - $26.13 per hour
