Teaches Patient Care Technology curriculum using individualized competency-based instructional materials that have been developed and district approved.
Develops and revises curriculum materials that meets or exceeds the course scope and sequence required to meet program objectives and complies with the district's instructional framework, healthcare industry, and accreditation standards. Effectively integrated industry-based learning into the curricula.
Organizes and provides engaging, student-centered, hands-on instruction and supervision in the classroom, skills laboratory, and clinical setting to promote an effective program of learning.
Teaches all courses as assigned, for the full duration of scheduled instruction.
Oversees the program calendar management.
In conjunction with the Testing and Clinical Coordinator, develops clinical facility partnerships, clinical rotations, and a clinical course schedule.
Be fully prepared with instructional plans for each class session and in accord with the program courses stated objectives.
In conjunction with the Testing and Clinical Coordinator and department administration to maintain a current copy of the signed clinical affiliation agreements as approved by the Board of Education.
Supervises and evaluates students in partnered healthcare facilities for a minimum of forty (40) clock hours to meet certification requirements for certification.
In conjunction with the Testing and Clinical Coordinator collects and maintains student files with enrollment information, drug screening and immunization records as required for clinical rotations.
Instructs students in safety procedures necessary for the safe operation of equipment and the care of materials, supplies, furniture, and facilities.
Provides instruction and supervision in the classroom and skills laboratory.
Maintains accurate student records including attendance, grades, disciplinary action, follow-up reports, and academic progress using school approved methods and tools and as required by district and state within identified timeframe.
Coordinates the student entrance process including orientation of students.
Coordinates the student exit process including certification exam applications.
Assists with student recruitment by attending Career Experiences, Extravaganza events, and partner school events, Information Nights, and assisting with on-site tour groups.
Participates in the school's Pathway to Excellence initiative to prepare students to be career ready. Assesses student achievement by interpreting multiple data sources, attend team meetings, and implement various evaluation strategies. Complete annual follow-up reports as required by the district.
Explores innovation and/or future technologies/trends in the healthcare industry and maintains contact with the community to keep in touch with job-entry requirements and current trends in health care.
Establishes clinical sites for student clinical rotations and preceptor responsibilities.
Maintains regular parent contact with high school students to discuss progress and how best to assist student's needs.
Recruits and maintains an active program Advisory Committee to ensure positive business and industry relationships, training experiences, and program marketability, and attends meetings twice each year.
Develops and fosters partnerships with external groups that represent business and industry, the community, partner schools, and civic and professional organizations.
Maintains accurate student records including attendance and academic progress in the computer system and the school's electronic learning management system.
Fosters opportunities for students to transition from school to work through internships, job shadowing, and relevant practicum and capstone experiences.
Develops internal/external partnerships that enhance student learning and promote successful entry into the workforce.
Advises and promotes leadership and skills development for all students through active participation in student organizations.
Sponsors a local chapter of Health Occupations of America (HOSA) Future Health Professionals and serves as a chapter advisor. Chaperones students and participates in local chapter activities, as well as state and national HOSA conferences.
Transport students in a district vehicle to and from co-curricular, supplemental, work-based learning and community service experiences.
Handles annual program evaluation according to the program systematic evaluation plan.
Collaborates with staff from the Career Planning Center, Career Readiness & Development team, and the Education Enhancement Center to provide support services to past, present, and future students.
Assists in developing the program budget and operates within the program budget following established procedures.
Evaluates student achievement based on assignments, tests, and lab skill check-offs according to grading policies and procedures.
Serves as a professional role model for students.
Performs such other tasks and assumes other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time. This may include participation in professional organization activities, conferences, teacher training, school committees, staff development, faculty meetings, etc.
Actively participates in school committees, staff development activities, faculty meetings, and the state career technology teacher education professional organizations.
Actively participates in school-wide continuous quality improvement efforts, training, team management philosophy, district committees, staff development activities, faculty meetings, and the state career technology teacher education professional organizations.
Supports department with requested or required reporting.
Maintains complete office and student records, as needed; process reports, forms, and all other required paperwork in a timely, efficient manner, checking for the accuracy, correctness, and completeness of all data;
Maintains required credentials.

Steady physical activity is required during hours of skills laboratory, clinical, and classroom instruction including walking and standing. Strenuous physical activity is required intermittently when assisting in moving patients and/or equipment. Direct contact with blood or other body fluids to which universal precautions apply require that personal protective equipment be worn in these circumstances (Category I and II). Must be able to provide documented evidence of current vaccinations and/or tests as required. Ability to lift 10-25 lbs. Low-level machine noise is encountered the majority of every day. Clinical instruction at clinical facilities may require 8 to 12 hours shifts on occasion. Extensive communication with internal and external customers. Reliable, dependable and punctual attendance. Full-time, exempt personnel position reports directly to the Instructional Director of Health Sciences. Evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy.
Ten-month contract (August 1st through May 31st), subject to annual renewal. Working days and hours are Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. 3:45 p.m. Instructional position may require summer training and contract.
