Patient Care Technician - Urgent Care - Full Time

As directed by the provider, responsible for rendering registration and clinical assistance to patients within urgent care. Responsible for maintaining quality patient care following the policies and procedures of the hospital.

Registration duties include:

• Greet patients/customers in a polite, prompt, helpful manner.

• Completes patient registration by collecting demographic and financial information, verifying insurance and benefits, explaining financial responsibility, and collecting required patient financial responsibility.

• General office duties such as answering the telephone and taking messages. Filing miscellaneous papers. Inventories and order office supplies.

Under the direction of the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant/Physician, duties will include:

• Escorts patients to the examination room; prepare patients for examination by interviewing the patient, obtaining and documenting vital signs, and other data.

• Assists the provider with treatments and procedures as requested.

• Responds to and assists in medical emergencies as per policy.

• Maintains medical supply inventory by ordering medical supplies as needed.

• Performs laboratory waived testing and other procedures as ordered by provider.

• Maintains a safe work area in a clean and organized manner.

Required:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively in speaking and writing.
• Strong organizational skills to monitor processes and ensure timely follow-up.
• Current BLS Certification.

Preferred:

• Certificate of completion of a medical assistant training program or other medical course of study
• 1-3 years of experience in an Occupational Medicine Clinic, Emergency Room, Urgent Care, or Family Practice

Work Schedule: Various shifts; 12 hours during weekday shifts, 8 hours on weekend shifts
