Description:
Position Summary: The Patient Coordinator is responsible for relieving doctors and other medical personnel of administrative and clerical work by checking out patients and scheduling future appointments. Greets all patients presenting a warm and caring environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Greet and directs patients.

Verify patient demographics and insurances.

Update any changes to patient’s account in EMR.

Checks out patients after their office visit.

Schedules follow up appointments.

Sends out physician orders/radiology & labs.
-
Obtains prior authorizations for radiology.
-
Coordinates follow up visits with outside testing that needs performed.

Keeps x-ray and other medical records, performs secretarial tasks, and completes lab requisition forms.

Keys data into computer to maintain office and patient records.
-
Communicates and works closely with physicians.

Cross train with front desk personnel.

All additional tasks as requested by management.
Requirements:
Qualification/Requirement:

Ability to apply a common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Ability to deal with problems involving occasional, last-minute changes in generally standardized situations.
Education/Training/Experience:

High school diploma or a GED
-
Six months related experience and / or training
-
Knowledge of EMR, medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT codes a plus.
