Patient Coordinator and Receptionist

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Patient Coordinator and Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while efficiently managing administrative tasks. Your energetic approach will help create a welcoming environment, streamline patient intake processes, and support clinical staff with accurate documentation and scheduling. Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly upon arrival, verify insurance information, and facilitate smooth check-in procedures using Practice Q
  • Schedule appointments accurately, coordinate provider calendars, and manage patient flow to minimize wait times.
  • Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and Medicaid, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete for billing purposes.
  • Collect and process payments for services rendered, including medical collections when applicable.
  • Maintain comprehensive medical records by reviewing documentation for accuracy and completeness in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Answer multi-line phone systems professionally with excellent phone etiquette; handle appointment rescheduling and patient inquiries efficiently.
  • Support clinical staff by managing administrative tasks such as filing medical records, updating care plans, and assisting with medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9/CPT) as needed.
  • Utilize computer skills to operate EMR systems
  • Assist with intake procedures for new patients, including collecting medical history and verifying insurance details.
  • Manage office supplies, organize filing systems (both electronic and paper), and perform clerical duties such as typing reports using Microsoft Office tools.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment with strong clinic experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and medical billing practices. -preferred not a requirement
  • Experience with insurance verification processes including Medicare and Medicaid claims processing.
  • Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and strong communication abilities.
  • Bilingual capabilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; ability to navigate multi-line phone systems efficiently.
  • Attention to detail in documentation review and data entry; ability to handle sensitive health information in compliance with HIPAA standards.
  • Office management skills including filing, scheduling, and maintaining accurate medical records are essential.

Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
