Patient Coordinator/Dental Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized, motivated, and detail-oriented individual to serve as a Patient Coordinator/Dental Assistant. This position offers an engaging opportunity to contribute to a professional healthcare environment where attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a caring attitude are valued.

The ideal candidate will serve and likely share in the duty of being the primary point of contact for patients, managing appointment scheduling, verifying dental benefits, and documenting dental records. This role requires excellent communication skills, a strong command in using computers, proficiency with dental office management systems, and a strong understanding of healthcare (specifically dental) terminology and procedures. This position plays a vital role in ensuring smooth operations and delivering exceptional patient service.

Compensation is negotiable pending employment experience. Full-time vs. Part-time is negotiable. Benefits come with Full-Time employment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries professionally and courteously
  • Greet patients warmly and manage front desk operations, including multi-line phone systems and patient check-in/out procedures
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth office operations and effective communication
  • Schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
  • Support administrative functions such as filing, data entry (i.e. 10 key typing), and maintaining organized records
  • Verify dental benefit coverage, process claims, and accurately manage billing
  • Update and maintain patient files in practice management software
  • Assist patients with intake procedures, including collecting medical history and explaining treatment plans
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA standards to protect patient confidentiality with all tasks and responsibilities
  • Duties associated with chairside assisting including sterilization of instrumentation and set-up and breakdown of dental treatment rooms

Skills

  • Excellent computer skills and typing accuracy is essential
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and record keeping
  • Strong math/accounting skills
  • Phone etiquette skills for handling patient inquiries
  • Prior clinic or dental office experience is preferred; strong customer service background is essentialProficiency with dental office management software (Dentrix, Eaglesoft)
  • Experience with dental benefit verification processes and billing procedures, including claims processing
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and compliance in all aspects of work
  • Bilingual abilities not required, but are a plus to effectively serve patient population

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $25.00 - $31.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 34 per week
