This is on-site position Monday to Friday 8-5pm in our Fort Myers office.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patients regarding financial obligations, insurance coverage, and payment options
- Verify insurance benefits and eligibility, including commercial, Workers’ Compensation (WC), and Auto Injury claims
- Provide upfront cost estimates and explain patient financial responsibility prior to services
- Manage and follow up on patient balances, including collections and payment arrangements
- Coordinate billing processes to ensure accurate and timely claim submission and reimbursement
- Handle Workers’ Compensation and Auto Injury cases, including claim setup, authorizations, and ongoing account management
- Work closely with billing team to resolve claim denials, underpayments, and discrepancies
- Maintain compliance with payer guidelines, state regulations, and practice policies
- Document all patient interactions and financial agreements in the practice management system
- Assist with financial hardship applications and payment plan administration as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in medical billing, collections, or financial counseling, preferably in an orthopedic or specialty practice
- Strong knowledge of insurance verification, billing processes, and reimbursement methodologies
- Experience with Workers’ Compensation and Auto Injury programs required
- Familiarity with CPT/ICD-10 coding and medical terminology preferred
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management systems
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
