Job Description
A patient Greeter in a dental office is the first point of contact for patients. They create a welcoming atmosphere and manage patient flow, verify paperwork and assist with calls and scheduling. Their actions ensure a positive patient experience.
Reports to: Office Manager
Primary Responsibilities
Responsible for assisting patients entering and leaving practice, getting them checked in with required documentation completed.
Primary Duties Include:
~ Welcome patients warmly upon arrival.
~ Represent our office positively throughout this encounter and work to create a comfortable and relaxed, yet professional and competent feel to the front office.
~ Utilize practice management software to reflect proper status of appointments.
~ Communicate needs and instruct patients on completion of forms on tablets.
~ Collect and properly store patient identification, insurance, medication lists, and other documents.
~ Perform insurance breakdown, estimate co-pays, and establish coverage as directed
~ Communicate with other dental and medical offices via phone, fax, and email.
~Conduct courtesy confirmation calls, making sure patient understands our location, their appointment time (verbally scheduled for 15 minutes prior to clinical time on schedule), encourage patients to prepare any questions for the doctor or the hygienist, bring any 3rd party insurance information and list of any prescribed medications, medical/dental diagnosis for their health history forms.
~ Notify dental team when patient is ready with radio headset communication.
~ See that the sensitive material is not left exposed at the front desk. Obey HIPAA rules.
~ Help assist with the intake of new patient records.
~ Help assist with chart prepping for insurance eligibility and follow-up on the status insurance claims.
~ Exceptional phone skills to answer calls, scheduling appointments and address calls as needed.
~ Process co-pays and manage billing.
~ Maintain tidy reception and waiting areas.
~ Help complete simple check-outs.
~ Assist patients that walk in our office and need assistance.
Office Participation
~ Be an active participant in team meetings
~ Perform other tasks as assigned by the dentist
Interpersonal
~ Outstanding personal skills to maintain effective rapport with patients, dentists, other team members, and community. Effective verbal skills to communicate with patients and team.
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
