Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Patient Access Representative to join our healthcare team. This vital role involves managing patient interactions at the front desk, ensuring accurate registration, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and maintaining comprehensive medical records. Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival and departure
- Verify patient insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility verification using Epic
- Collect copays and outstanding balances; process payments accurately through medical collection systems
- Schedule appointments efficiently utilizing medical scheduling software; manage appointment rescheduling as needed
- Review and update patient records ensuring accuracy and completeness in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist patients with intake procedures, including documentation review and data entry using multi-line phone systems and typing skills
- Maintain organized scanning and importing of medical records and documentation in accordance with health information management standards
- Support medical administrative functions such as answering multi-line phones, providing excellent phone etiquette, and managing office correspondence
- Collaborate with clinical staff for seamless care coordination
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations concerning patient confidentiality and data security
Skills
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems, ideally in Epic
- Experience with insurance verification processes including Medicaid programs
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally
- Familiarity with health information management practices and office management procedures
- Ability to navigate computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for documentation and communication purposes
- Previous clinic or medical office experience preferred; dental or hospital experience is advantageous
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and record keeping
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring patient privacy and data security compliance
