Patient Transport Driver
Job Overview:
As a Patient Transport Driver, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and comfortable transportation of patients within our healthcare facility. This dynamic position requires a valid driver's license and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care through efficient and secure transportation.
Hours:
- Job hours will change per week based on the transportation needs of the facility.
- Hours for the coming week will be confirmed the Friday before.
- Average range of hours will be : 8-16 hours a week
Responsibilities:
- Patient Transportation:
- Drive a specially equipped vehicle to transport patients to and from appointments and activity outings.
- Ensure the safe and timely arrival of patients.
- Escort residents as needed on appointments.
- Provide basic patient care during transportation and appointments, including assisting with transfers and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Communication:
- Maintain clear and effective communication with nursing and medical staff to coordinate patient transport schedules.
- Update relevant healthcare professionals on any changes or delays in the transportation schedule.
- Ensure delivery of any relevant paperwork to and from facility related to appointments.
- Adherence to Protocols:
- Strictly adhere to infection control protocols and safety measures to minimize the risk of patient harm during transportation.
- Follow established procedures for the proper use of medical equipment within the transport vehicle.
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of patient transport activities, including departure and arrival times, patient information, and any relevant observations.
- Emergency Response:
- Be prepared to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients during transport.
- Vehicle Maintenance:
- Conduct routine checks of the transport vehicle to ensure its proper functioning and cleanliness.
- Report any issues promptly and coordinate with the facility's maintenance department for necessary repairs.
Qualifications:
- Valid Driver's License:
- Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Experience:
- At least ten years of driving experience is required.
- Previous experience as a patient transport role is preferred.
- Communication Skills:
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Attention to Detail:
- Demonstrate attention to detail in recording patient information and following established protocols.
Working Conditions:
- This role involves frequent interactions with patients and healthcare staff in various departments.
- The Patient Transport Driver may be required to work varying shifts based on the facility's needs.
