Patient Transport Driver (WEEKENDS)

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Patient Transport Driver to provide safe, efficient, and compassionate transportation services for patients within our Long term care healthcare facilities. The ideal candidate will possess excellent driving skills, a strong commitment to customer service, and the ability to handle various transportation needs with professionalism. This role is vital in ensuring patients are transported comfortably and on time for appointments, procedures, or transfers between departments. The Patient Transport Driver will operate a variety of vehicles, including shuttle buses, limousines, and paratransit vehicles, while maintaining safety standards and providing exceptional support to patients and staff alike.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate hospital shuttles, limousines, or specialized transport vehicles to move patients within medical facilities or between locations.
• Assist patients with boarding and disembarking vehicles, ensuring comfort and safety throughout transit.
• Maintain cleanliness and routine maintenance of assigned vehicles to ensure optimal operation and safety compliance.
• Communicate effectively with hospital staff, patients, and other team members to coordinate transportation schedules and address any special needs.
• Handle heavy lifting of wheelchairs, stretchers, or mobility aids when necessary, following proper safety protocols.
• Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations to prevent accidents or incidents during transportation.
• Document transportation activities accurately and report any vehicle issues or safety concerns promptly.

Skills

• Proven experience in shuttle driving, delivery driving, bus driving, or similar roles requiring commercial driving skills.
• Familiarity with paratransit services, heavy lifting techniques, and vehicle maintenance procedures.
• Strong communication skills for interacting professionally with patients, medical staff, and team members.
• Ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Knowledge of traffic laws, safety standards, and best practices for passenger transport.
• Experience with limousine or school bus driving is advantageous but not mandatory.
