Job Summary:
Job incumbent performs patient transportation services to and from specified route locations. Job incumbent also performs expedition duties for CAIHC Pharmacy and Laboratory between specified Air Freight locations. Job incumbent will be highly visible in the clinic assisting patients and or families having difficulty navigating the healthcare systems.

Adhere to the TCC Ch'eghwtsen' model of service and guiding principle which requires providing timely and effective service along with the ability to interact with others in a way that inspires trust and demonstrates respect, compassion and empathy.

Representative Duties: Under direct supervision of the Lead Patient Transport Specialist,

The Patient Transport Specialist works closely with the Shuttle Team and primarily focuses on meeting the transportation needs of the elders, patients, and families at Tanana Chiefs Conference. This position also assists with other transports/duties as assigned by the Lead Patient Transport Specialist.

1. Patient shuttle driver responsibilities are to provide an efficient daily operation of transportation that is safe, timely and courteous on a daily basis.

2. Assists patients in giving directions and information regarding the programs and services available at CAIHC/TCC.

3. Provides customer services to patients in need of transportation to CAIHC/TCC.

4. Provides passenger information, assisting elderly, handicapped and medically impaired passengers in boarding and disembarking as needed.

5. Provides transportation to various Fairbanks airport locations for patient post - medical appointments. Shuttle services also provides "at call pick up transportation" for immediate departure for ANMC.

6. Assists patients needing to be picked up and brought to CAIHC Pharmacy for medication after receiving call from FMH discharge nurse. Other services provided are "being on standby" while waiting for client to pick up pharmacy medication before the shuttle provides patient delivery to the Willow House or temporary lodging.

7. Assists with the communications between the client and the medical registration staff.

8. Greets and welcomes patients / visitors to the clinic in a helpful friendly manner, while providing patient shuttle services.

9. Acts as a liaison in communicating patients' concerns regarding "care of services".

10. Develops, manages and maintains a good working relationship with clinical and administrative staffing.

11. A daily log book will be filled out and documented for the amount of shuttle service riders that utilize the service on a daily basis. The daily log book will include, fuel being used by the GSA Credit Card at time of fill up and general maintenance. All receipts are to be kept and available for review.

12. Performs preventative maintenance and cleaning functions on vehicles. Also schedules required professional maintenance and repairs as needed at GSA or Warranty service location.

13. Secures laboratory samples from CAIHC to and from different airport locations with extreme caution in a timely delivery. At times, CAIHC Laboratory requires immediate delivery to Quest Lab for blood workup labeled STAT.

14. Delivers pharmaceutical packages to and from different airport location with extreme caution in a timely manner. At times, medication needs to be delivered to an outbound flight in a timely manner.

15. Picks up daily cash funds from the Cashier Department and delivery to the business office.

Minimum Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.

2. Maintain valid State of Alaska driver's license.

3. Must pass background check pursuant to federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.

4. Must maintain a current CPR card or within six months of hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Ability to operate vehicles safely and skillfully in extreme climatic conditions. Skill in maneuvering vehicle though traffic and into tight places to accomplish loading and unloading of passengers, luggage, and shipment boxes or packages.

2. Knowledge of applicable traffic laws, ordinances, rules and regulations, use of equipment, operator care and maintenance of company owned vehicles.

3. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and to work independently and multi-task in the performance of job duties. Good verbal and interpersonal skills.

4. Must have computer skills and the ability to operate standard office equipment.

Supervision: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical demands: Job incumbent must be able to lift, carry and push weight from fifty to one-hundred pounds in the transport of patient luggage, pharmacy and laboratory packages.


Summation



Summation: This position has high visibility with employees and outside vendors which requires strong customer skills. In addition, as Patient Transport Specialist, incumbent will be exposed to clinical settings and frequent exposure to patients that may have communicable diseases, including potential COVID positive interactions.
