Patient Transport Technician, Champaign

Advanced Medical Transport (AMT) is the premier provider of emergency and scheduled ambulance and patient transport services in Central and Western Illinois, as well as parts of Iowa. AMT is a private, not-for-profit organization operated for community benefit.

As a patient transport technician, you will be responsible for ensuring compassionate, safe and efficient transfer between facilities for adult behavioral health patients. You will be part of the Illinois Patient Transfer, or IPT, team supporting hospitals, patients and families across the state.
This role is based in Champaign and will work variable shifts/hours during the week and alternating weekends. Please be aware that transports are assigned throughout the scheduled shift hours. It is common for technicians in this role to work well-past their scheduled shift end times.

Job Duties: This list may not include all the duties assigned.

  • Supervise patients during transportation
  • Provide proper de-escalation and aggression prevention techniques as required
  • Transports select MedValet patients as needed
  • Assist facility staff with escorting both the patient and belongings to and from the vehicle
  • Assures completion and accuracy of all AMT and patient contact paperwork
  • Responsible for all equipment and supplies per AMT vehicle check-off sheet and inventory requirements
  • Maintain current, State of Illinois driver's license
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times
  • Present and promote a positive company image

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Valid Illinois Driver's license required
  • Ability to bend, pull, push, and lift up to 25 pounds (subject to physical exam)
  • Successful completion of AMTs Management of Aggressive Behavior Training
