Purpose of Position:

This role is responsible for accurate and timely payroll processing for multiple states, payroll accounting reconciliations, tax compliance, and supporting audits and financial reporting activities.

Duties and Responsibilities (Essential):

• Process weekly and biweekly payrolls for employees across multiple states. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and labor laws.

• Maintain payroll records, deductions, garnishments, benefits, and timekeeping data accurately.

• Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts, including wages, taxes, benefits, and accrued liabilities.

• Prepare and review payroll journal entries and account reconciliations.

• Coordinate payroll tax filings and resolve payroll tax discrepancies.

• Manage employee payroll changes including new hires, terminations, promotions, and direct deposit updates.

• Review, process, and reconcile employee expense reports in accordance with company policies and procedures.

• Collaborate with Human Resources and Accounting to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.

• Assist with year-end payroll activities including W-2 processing, audits, and providing documentation as requested.

• Maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee information.

• Identify opportunities for payroll process improvements and increased efficiency.

• Willingness to provide cross-functional support within the accounting department as business needs require.

• Serve as a positive contributor to the team by supporting colleagues and effectively executing projects and assignments as needed.

• Perform other ad hoc projects and administrative duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.

Qualifications:

Experience:

• Minimum of 2-5 years of payroll accounting experience.

• Multi-state payroll processing experience is preferred.

• Experience with payroll and accounting systems is required.

• Experience with UKG and/or Unanet is preferred.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook is required.

Education:

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field preferred
