Overview
This position ensures that generally accepted accounting principles are followed for all finances associated with the six parishes of the Haven of Mercy ACC, provides HR support to parish staff, administrative support to parish committees, and works in collaboration with the Pastor and Director of Administration and Advancement to advance the mission and ministry of the Catholic community.
Responsibilities
- Provide financial decision support to the Pastor, Director of Administration and Advancement and parish committees.
- Collaborate with and support the Pastor, Director of Administration and Advancement.
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Administration and Advancement to ensure parish financial policies and procedures comply with appropriate internal controls/separation of duties.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial operations for the parishes, including receipts and deposits, accounts payable/receivable, payroll coordination support, month-end close and reconciliations, financial reporting to leadership and the Diocese, and strong internal controls/separation of duties.
- Administer payroll and related reporting in accordance with diocesan policy and applicable federal and state requirements.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and compliant personnel records and HR documentation.
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, with an accounting focus.
- Five years’ accounting experience in financial management, or CPA preferred.
- Five years’ experience in an office/administrative setting.
- Training and/or experience in office procedures.
- Proficient in general administrative and accounting skills.
- Proficient with computers and common software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as accounting and census software tailored for church organizations.
- Knowledge of communications methods including print and online.
