Payroll Clerk
Duties:
- Process payroll for employees accurately and in a timely manner
- Calculate and enter payroll deductions, including taxes, benefits, and other withholdings
- Maintain payroll records and ensure data integrity
- Prepare and distribute paychecks or direct deposit statements
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters
- Assist with benefits administration, including enrollment and changes
- Collaborate with the HR department to ensure accurate employee data
- Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies
- Prepare reports for management as needed
- Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations related to payroll
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Payroll Clerk or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting principles
- Familiarity with tax regulations and requirements
- Experience with benefits administration is a plus
- Proficient in using payroll software and MS Office applications
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Knowledge of governmental accounting is a plus
- Knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping is preferred
- 10-key typing skills are required
