Payroll Controller

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, UltiPro, Kronos, or Ceridian, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Reconcile payroll data with accounting records, including general ledger accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and benefits administration.
  • Maintain detailed records of payroll transactions, including journal entries, debits & credits, and account reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and governmental reporting requirements related to payroll taxes and employee benefits.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and finance teams to verify employee data entries and update HRIS systems accurately.
  • Conduct analysis of payroll reports to identify discrepancies or errors and implement corrective actions promptly.
  • Support benefits administration processes by managing deductions, contributions, and related financial transactions within payroll software.

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing payroll functions using systems such as Workday, Paychex, ADP, or UltiPro; familiarity with Kronos or Ceridian is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of payroll management principles combined with knowledge of corporate accounting practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software like QuickBooks or similar financial tools; experience with general ledger reconciliation is essential.
  • Knowledge of tax regulations, governmental reporting standards, and benefits administration processes.
  • Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; familiarity with 10 key typing and double entry bookkeeping techniques.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data using analysis skills to identify issues and recommend solutions.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively across HR, finance, and external agencies involved in payroll processing.
