Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing using platforms such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro to ensure employees are paid accurately and on schedule.
- Maintain and reconcile payroll data within accounting software like QuickBooks, Ceridian, or PeopleSoft, ensuring consistency with general ledger accounts.
- Oversee benefits administration related to payroll, including deductions, tax withholdings, and compliance with governmental regulations.
- Perform detailed account reconciliations, journal entries, and double-entry bookkeeping to uphold financial accuracy.
- Collaborate with human resources to ensure proper data entry for new hires, terminations, and changes in employee status.
- Monitor payroll-related tax filings and compliance requirements, staying current with relevant laws and regulations.
- Generate reports on payroll expenses, benefits costs, and other financial metrics to support organizational decision-making.
Qualifications
- Proven experience managing payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or Kronos; familiarity with HRIS platforms is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles including general ledger reconciliation, debits & credits, journal entries, and governmental accounting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software like QuickBooks or similar financial tools; experience with non-profit or governmental accounting is a plus.
- Excellent analysis skills to interpret payroll data accurately and identify discrepancies promptly.
- Knowledge of tax regulations related to payroll processing and benefits administration.
- Demonstrated ability to perform data entry efficiently using 10 key typing skills and attention to detail in bookkeeping tasks.
