Payroll Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our established family-owned business operating from a home setting in Chula Vista. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll processing, proficiency in QuickBooks, and experience with calculating mileage expenses and paying by unit. This role involves managing payroll tasks, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, and providing accurate and timely payroll operations for our business.

Duties

• Payroll Processing: Accurately and timely process payroll for all employees using QuickBooks.
• QuickBooks Management: Perform payroll-related tasks within QuickBooks, including entering payroll data, managing employee records, and generating reports.
• Mileage and Unit Calculation: Calculate mileage expense reimbursements and manage payments based on unit pricing as required.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
• Record Maintenance: Maintain and update payroll records and reports for employee earnings, deductions, changes, and mileage expenses.
• Problem Resolution: Address and resolve payroll discrepancies and issues efficiently.
• Reporting: Prepare and distribute payroll reports as needed for management review.
• Communication: Liaise with staff and management to address payroll-related inquiries and issues.

Skills

• Experience: Significant proven experience as a payroll specialist, payroll administrator, or in similar positions is essential.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks is a must; additional accounting software knowledge is a plus.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of payroll processes, including taxes, deductions, mileage expenses, and unit payments.
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing payroll and expense data.
• Mathematical Skills: Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
• Organizational Skills: Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize workload effectively.
• Proficient in speaking Spanish

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
