Payroll Specialist

Job Overview

We are a fast-paced, growing dry utility construction company seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team. This role is critical to our operations, as payroll is directly tied to unit billing—making precision, accountability, and attention to detail absolutely essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process weekly payroll accurately and on time for a large, field-based workforce
• Ensure payroll aligns with unit-based billing and job costing requirements
• Maintain and track job cost allocations, labor hours, and production units
• Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, and reconciliations
• Verify timesheets, production reports, and billing data for accuracy
• Collaborate with project managers and accounting to resolve discrepancies
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in payroll processing, preferably in construction or a related field
• Strong understanding of job costing and labor allocation
• Experience administering employee benefits programs
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy—this role demands it
• Ability to manage payroll tied to unit billing/production metrics
• Proficiency with payroll software. Deltek ComputerEase experience is a plus but not required.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
• Bilingual is a huge plus
