Payroll Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our Appraisal Management Company for accounts receivable and payable. In this vital role, you will process payroll for all contract appraisers and you will be responsible for accounts receivables from lender/clients . Your expertise in payroll management systems and accounting software will be instrumental in maintaining precise financial records. Duties

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Perform detailed data entry and account reconciliation to verify payroll data against HRIS and accounting records
  • Maintain and update employee records related to compensation, benefits, tax information, and deductions
  • Process journal entries related to payroll transactions, including debits & credits, general ledger reconciliation, and double entry bookkeeping
  • Administer benefits programs and assist with benefits enrollment, changes, and compliance documentation
  • Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure accurate reporting of payroll expenses in the general ledger
  • Conduct analysis of payroll data for discrepancies or errors, resolving issues promptly to maintain compliance with tax laws and regulations
  • Support accounts payable and receivable processes related to payroll taxes, garnishments, or vendor payments
  • Assist with governmental reporting requirements and audit preparations related to payroll and accounting records

Skills

  • Proficiency with payroll management software such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, Kronos, or Ceridian
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles including general ledger accounting, journal entries, debits & credits
  • Experience with HRIS systems and benefits administration platforms
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks or other accounting software for bookkeeping purposes
  • Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy (10 key typing)
  • Understanding of tax regulations, non-profit accounting practices, governmental accounting standards
  • Ability to analyze financial data critically and identify discrepancies efficiently
  • Knowledge of accounts payable/receivable processes and account reconciliation techniques
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate across departments and explain complex financial concepts clearly
