Purpose: The purpose of this position is to ensure that all payroll payments are made in an accurate and timely manner; to ensure the College complies with all reporting and filing requirements of the payroll function; and to be responsible to its internal customers. Assists with other benefits, compensation, and employee transaction processing as assigned. To maintain and improve the College’s HRIS and payroll systems, building data sets, running routine and ad hoc reports, and developing and maintaining key HR metrics and dashboard(s).

Minimum Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or work experience equivalent to the attainment of a Bachelor’s degree. For screening purposes, two years of directly related experience is equivalent to one year of education; therefore, eight years of experience is the acceptable substitute for a Bachelor’s Degree.
- Two (2) to four (4) years of systems experience such as HRIS, Payroll or similar function.
- Knowledge of federal employment tax regulations and the ability to prepare required legal payroll reports and documents. Understanding and applying federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations.
- Demonstrated experience of basic math skills; knowledge of payroll, taxes and benefits; information systems; reading comprehension; analytical problem solving; interpersonal communications; and logical thinking.
- Attention to detail and the ability to enter data with consistent accuracy.
- Demonstrated work history of providing high quality, strong customer-oriented services including: problem solving orientation; strong listening skills; coordination of work effort with others and teamwork; history of coordinated work effort with extensive follow-through and follow-up; experience identifying customer needs; conflict resolution; ability to put customer before self; and creation of user-friendly communications.
- Ability to appropriately use and demonstrate proficiency with standard office productivity software and tools (Microsoft Office and Google).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality (i.e. separation agreements, pay garnishments, etc.).

- Experience in a unionized environment.
- Experience administering or managing an HRIS/payroll relational database and software.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Physical / Mental Requirements:
- Works primarily in an office setting, sitting for extended periods while using a computer and phone. Also moves within the office and to other locations for meetings or interviews.
- Communicates frequently in person and by phone with a wide range of people; must clearly and accurately exchange information in English.
- Performs detailed payroll work, ensuring data accuracy and verifying reports and system outputs.
- Occasionally lifts or carries items up to 30 pounds and uses standard office equipment. May be exposed to noise from office machines.
- Uses basic math and algebra to perform calculations such as percentages and financial figures.
Work Schedule
Hours/Schedule:
The normal work schedule for this position is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, however, it may be required to work a variable schedule to meet operational needs.
