Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, energetic Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to join our dedicated healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide essential support to patients across various care settings, including long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, hospitals, and home care environments. Your primary focus will be delivering personalized, respectful care that promotes independence and enhances quality of life. Duties

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, and toileting using proper techniques like Hoyer lifts and aseptic procedures.
  • Monitor vital signs, document medical information accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems, and report changes in patient condition promptly.
  • Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and medication protocols.
  • Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care strategies and behavioral health support.
  • Assist with medical procedures such as catheter care, phlebotomy (blood draws), and basic life support techniques.
  • Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control standards and using proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive patient service in inpatient, outpatient, or home & community care settings.

Experience

  • Prior experience working in medical-surgical units, ICU (Intensive Care Unit), emergency medicine, or Level I/II trauma centers is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in geriatrics, hospice care, behavioral health, or pediatrics enhances your ability to provide specialized support.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks is preferred for efficient documentation.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology principles related to patient care procedures.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges is a plus.
  • Certification in basic life support (BLS) or CPR is required; additional certifications like phlebotomy or DME (Durable Medical Equipment) training are advantageous.
  • Previous caregiving roles in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospital medicine units, or home & community settings will strengthen your application.
