Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistants (PCAs) to provide high-quality supportive care to patients across various healthcare settings. The ideal candidate will have experience in diverse clinical environments, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, assisted living, and home care. This role involves assisting patients with daily activities, medication administration, and ensuring their safety and comfort while adhering to healthcare regulations and standards. A strong background in medical documentation, vital signs monitoring, and patient support is essential to deliver exceptional care tailored to individual needs.

Duties

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support, including the use of Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices
  • Monitor and record vital signs accurately using EMR/EHR systems and document patient information following HIPAA guidelines
  • Administer medications as prescribed, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to medication protocols
  • Support patients with specialized needs such as dementia, Alzheimer's, memory care, behavioral health, or developmental disabilities
  • Provide post-acute care in settings like skilled nursing facilities or outpatient clinics
  • Assist with medical procedures including catheter care, phlebotomy, aseptic techniques, and basic life support when required
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams in acute care environments such as ICU, emergency departments, Level I/II trauma centers, PICU, or surgical units
  • Educate patients and families on health management plans and ensure safety protocols are followed during all interactions
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by following infection control procedures related to infectious disease care and hospital standards
  • Support patient mobility using appropriate equipment like Hoyer lifts or transfer devices while ensuring safety

Requirements

  • Valid certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent required; additional certifications such as Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant training are a plus
  • Experience working in diverse healthcare settings including hospitals (ICU, ER, OR), long-term care (nursing homes, assisted living), or home & community care environments
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and patient care procedures including medication administration and vital signs monitoring
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks preferred
  • Ability to work effectively with vulnerable populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, or individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams while maintaining patient confidentiality under HIPAA regulations
  • Must demonstrate compassion, patience, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient-centered care

Pay: $13.00 - $18.00 per hour
