Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to support health assessments
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed schedules and protocols
- Support residents with memory care needs, including Alzheimer’s and dementia care strategies
- Operate equipment like Hoyer lifts safely to transfer residents with mobility challenges
- Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary restrictions and preferences
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning resident areas and ensuring infection control standards are met
- Document care activities using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems accurately and promptly
- Provide emotional support and companionship to promote social engagement and mental well-being
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, and family members to coordinate comprehensive care plans
- Support residents’ participation in community activities or outings when appropriate
Qualifications
- Prior experience in long-term care settings such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home care is highly preferred
- Knowledge of ADL assistance techniques and dementia or Alzheimer’s care best practices
- Valid certification in First Aid and CPR required; additional certifications like medication administration or behavior management are advantageous
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities is a plus
- Ability to operate EMR systems efficiently for documentation purposes
- Strong communication skills with an empathetic approach to caregiving
- Physical ability to lift, transfer, or reposition residents safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Valid driver’s license preferred for driving residents or running errands within the community
