May occasionally be required to work outside of standard hours or overtime based on operational or project demands. Pay PlanThis opportunity is non-exempt and on Pay Grade 7. The full Pay Grade Range is shown for growth and development opportunities within the grade. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ExperienceAssociate's Degree, with course work in criminal justice, criminal forensics, forensic science, constitutional law, crime scene technology or crime scene management. Training courses from Property/Evidence organizations could substitute for this training.2+ Years of Experience in law enforcement, property management, or records management. This experience must include disposition of property within the courts system.Must be eligible for Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Certification. Must possess 1 Certification, or the ability to obtain within 12 months post-hire: Texas Association of Property/Evidence Inventory (TAPEIT) International Association for Property and Evidence (IAPE)Valid State of Texas Driver’s License with a good driving record.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Knowledge Comprehensive knowledge of department policies, state and federal laws, and best practices. Understanding of laws, rules, and guidelines governing the integrity, chain of custody, and disposal of property and evidence. Strong knowledge of property and evidence handling procedures. SkillsProficiency in interpreting and applying laws, regulations, and policies to make informed decisions. Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear and concise interactions. Proficiency in computer systems, including evidence tracking software and Microsoft Office. Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.AbilitiesAbility to give effective verbal and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, peers, supervisors, other law enforcement agencies, judicial officials, and the public. Capacity to work cooperatively, calmly, and diplomatically with a diverse public, various department segments, and external agencies. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Commitment to accuracy, attention to detail, and maintaining the integrity of property and evidence processes.
