PE Teacher

Position Summary:

St. James Episcopal School is seeking a dynamic, nurturing, and enthusiastic part-time Physical Education (PE) Teacher to teach students in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade. The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood physical development, strong classroom management skills, and the ability to create an inclusive, engaging, and age-appropriate PE curriculum that promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and healthy lifestyle habits.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate PE curriculum for Kindergarten through 2nd Grade
• Promote physical fitness, coordination, and basic motor skills through structured play and movement-based activities
• Foster a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment that supports the physical and social-emotional development of young learners
• Integrate school values and character education into physical activities and teamwork exercises
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and administration to support the overall growth and well-being of students
• Maintain equipment, ensure safety protocols, and supervise students during PE classes
• Communicate regularly with parents and school staff regarding student progress and program goals
• Coordinate afterschool athletic teams, including scheduling practices and games, communicating with coaches and parents, and ensuring proper supervision and safety protocols are followed.
• Attend occasional faculty meetings, training sessions, and school events as required

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field (required)
• Prior experience teaching PE or working with young children in an educational setting (preferred)
• Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate physical activities
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills
• Commitment to the mission and values of an Episcopal school environment
• Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

Work Schedule:

• Part-time; schedule to be determined in collaboration with school leadership

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 3.0 per week
