Duties

  • Assist pediatric dentists during examinations and procedures, including chairside support and four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and comfort.
  • Prepare treatment areas with necessary instruments, materials, and supplies, ensuring proper aseptic technique and infection control standards are maintained at all times.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays, including digital imaging while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
  • Manage dental documentation via OpenDental
  • Educate young patients and their guardians on oral hygiene practices using age-appropriate communication methods to promote lifelong dental health habits.
  • Assist with dental procedures related to pediatric dentistry and orthodontics.
  • Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow efficiently within the clinic.

Skills

  • Proficiency in dental assisting techniques with knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control protocols.
  • Experience working with EMR systems OpenDental
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of medical records and patient information.
  • Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining safety standards for pediatric patients.
  • Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices, including behavior management strategies for children.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly to children and their families while demonstrating compassion and patience.
