Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our compassionate dental team. This role involves providing exceptional chairside assistance and patient care within a pediatric dentistry setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and a passion for working with children. Prior experience with dental software and infection control protocols is highly valued. Duties
- Assist the dentist during various pediatric dental procedures, including exams, cleanings, restorations, and extractions
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control standards
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring patient safety and comfort
- Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, maintaining accurate medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Educate patients and parents on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care
- Monitor vital signs and medical history to ensure patient safety before procedures
- Support the dental team with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing medical records
- Practice four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency during procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment adhering to infection control protocols
Qualifications
- Proven experience in dental assisting, preferably within pediatric dentistry or general dentistry settings
- Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health
- Familiarity with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for medical documentation and records management
- Ability to operate X-ray equipment safely and effectively; certification in radiography preferred
- Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques in a clinical environment
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and team members
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining patient comfort
- Knowledge of pediatric-specific procedures including vital signs monitoring and behavior management techniques
- Certifications in CPR or basic life support are desirable but not mandatory

Pay: $21.00 - $28.00 per hour
