Duties

• Assist the dentist during various pediatric dental procedures, including examinations, cleanings, restorations, and orthodontic treatments using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency.
• Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and supplies while adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray imaging), ensuring proper positioning and safety measures in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Obtain vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates to monitor patient health before procedures.
• Manage patient records by updating medical documentation, medical records, and dental charts accurately within EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
• Educate young patients and their guardians on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures tailored for pediatrics.
• Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow as a dental receptionist, and maintaining organized medical coding for billing purposes.
• Operate advanced dental technology including 3D scanners when applicable to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Ensure compliance with all infection control standards and maintain a safe clinical environment through proper sterilization of instruments and equipment.
• Collaborate effectively with the team to deliver comprehensive pediatric dentistry services within a general dentistry practice that emphasizes patient comfort and safety.

Experience

• Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially within pediatric dentistry or general dentistry environments.
• Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is essential for managing medical records and documentation efficiently.
• Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy relevant to pediatrics, medical terminology, and medical coding enhances your ability to support clinical workflows effectively.
• Demonstrated understanding of infection control procedures, aseptic techniques, X-ray safety protocols, and sterilization processes is required.
• Experience with dental assisting duties including chairside assisting during various procedures like endodontics or prosthodontics is advantageous.
• Familiarity with advanced imaging tools such as 3D scanners or medical imaging devices will be considered a plus.
