Duties

• Assist the dentist during pediatric dental procedures, including chairside support and patient management
• Take digital X-rays ensuring adherence to infection control and aseptic techniques
• Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, maintaining a sterile environment
• Educate children and parents on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and dental procedures to promote understanding and cooperation
• Manage medical documentation, including medical records, proper coding, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Operate Dentrix for accurate patient data entry and appointment scheduling
• Support infection control protocols and maintain knowledge of anatomy relevant to pediatric dentistry

Skills

• Proven experience with dental assisting in a pediatric setting, including chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry techniques
• Proficiency with Dentrix for managing medical records and documentation
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy related to pediatric patients
• Ability to operate dental imaging equipment safely and effectively
• Familiarity with infection control standards, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures within a dental clinic environment
• Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and team members as a dental receptionist or assistant
• Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
