pediatric Nurse – Job DescriptionPosition Overview
A Pediatric Nurse provides specialized nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents. This role includes assessing patients, administering treatments, supporting families, and ensuring a safe and caring environment tailored to the unique needs of children.
Key Responsibilities1. Patient Care
- Assess and monitor the physical, emotional, and developmental needs of pediatric patients
- Administer medications, vaccines, IV therapy, and treatments as prescribed
- Assist physicians during examinations, procedures, and emergencies
- Monitor vital signs, symptoms, and changes in patient conditions
2. Family Support & Education
- Educate parents and caregivers about treatments, medications, home care, and child health
- Provide emotional support and clear communication to families
- Guide families regarding nutrition, safety, growth, and illness prevention
3. Clinical Tasks
- Prepare and manage pediatric medical equipment (nebulizers, infusion pumps, monitors)
- Perform procedures such as wound care, catheterization, sample collection, and feeding tube care
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
4. Infection Control & Safety
- Follow pediatric-specific infection prevention standards
- Ensure safe environment tailored for children (fall prevention, equipment safety)
- Adhere to hospital policies, protocols, and quality standards
5. Collaboration & Coordination
- Work closely with pediatricians, specialists, therapists, and other healthcare staff
- Assist in planning patient care, discharge, and follow-up
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, training, and quality improvement activities
QualificationsEducation
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (GNM/B.Sc. Nursing)
- Current nursing license/registration
Experience
- Experience in pediatric units, NICU, PICU, or general pediatrics preferred
- New graduates with pediatric training may also be considered
Skills
- Strong understanding of child development and pediatric illnesses
- Ability to comfort, communicate, and build trust with children
- Excellent clinical skills and quick response in emergencies
- Strong communication, empathy, patience, and family-centered care approach
- Knowledge of pediatric medication dosages and safety protocols
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹28,000.00 per month
