Pediatric Physical Therapy Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support licensed physical therapists in delivering high-quality patient care across various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing facilities, home health, and clinics. This role involves assisting with therapy sessions, implementing care plans, and contributing to patient recovery and mobility improvement. The position offers opportunities to work with diverse patient populations, including pediatrics, geriatrics, orthopedics, and acute care cases.

Responsibilities

  • Assist licensed physical therapists in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans tailored to patient needs.
  • Support patients through therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques such as trigger point therapy, and mobility activities.
  • Monitor and document patient progress accurately, reporting any concerns or changes to the supervising therapist.
  • Educate patients and their families on exercises, activity modifications, and discharge planning to promote continued recovery at home or in other settings.
  • Maintain a clean and safe treatment environment in accordance with healthcare regulations and facility policies.
  • Support discharge planning processes by coordinating care needs with other healthcare professionals.
  • Utilize knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and physiotherapy principles to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of care plans for diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, orthopedics, and patients in outpatient or inpatient settings.

Requirements

  • Valid certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant from an accredited program.
  • Experience working in inpatient facilities, skilled nursing facilities, home health environments, outpatient clinics, or acute care settings preferred.
  • Knowledge of physiotherapy techniques including trigger point therapy and manual therapy modalities.
  • Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and care planning processes.
  • Experience working with diverse patient populations such as pediatrics and geriatrics.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams and communicate clearly with patients and families.
  • Prior experience in orthopedics or outpatient clinic environments is advantageous.
