Responsibilities
- Deliver skilled pediatric nursing care directly in patients’ homes, including medication administration, IV infusions, and wound care such as suturing and ostomy management
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and physical examinations tailored to children’s developmental stages
- Educate families on disease management, medication protocols, nutrition, and equipment use such as ventilators or feeding tubes
- Coordinate care plans with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, including specialists in ophthalmology, cardiology, or critical care when needed
- Maintain accurate medical documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic or Cerner while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Perform specimen collection and processing for laboratory testing; manage infection control protocols to prevent disease transmission
- Provide triage support by assessing urgent needs and guiding families on appropriate next steps or emergency procedures
Requirements
- Valid pediatric nursing license (RN) with current state licensure required
- Proven pediatric nursing experience in settings such as hospital medicine, ICU, PICU, or neonatal units; experience in home care is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation specific to pediatrics
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic or Cerner; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9) is advantageous
- Ability to perform aseptic techniques during procedures like IV insertion and catheter care; skilled in airway management and ventilator support when necessary
- Experience working with children who have complex medical needs such as developmental disabilities or chronic conditions like long-term ventilator dependence or dialysis treatments
- Excellent communication skills for family education, case management coordination, and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Flexibility to travel within assigned regions; valid driver’s license required
