The UFCW Local 1262 and Employers Pension Fund is seeking a Pension Service Associate for a full-time permanent position

The primary responsibilities of the Pension Service Associate are: to ensure the timely and accurate payment of retiree pension benefits, as well as providing for appropriate health benefits, coverage and premiums. This position also contributes to the efficient administration of the Funds’ pension plans; this entails communicating with and responding (via telephone or in writing) to active plan participant and retiree inquiries, e.g., concerning credited service, performing the requisite pension search using PC files and microfiche to determine member eligibility.

  • Compose and mail Statement of Benefits Accrued to individuals requesting benefit information
  • Interview plan participants considering retirement.
  • Prepare/mail pension applications and assist telephonically or in person with any questions.
  • Communicate with stores, employers, and other unions to verify credited service, as well as requesting Social Security Administration (SSA) reports-including forwarding checks with requisite authorization forms, as needed.
  • Complete pension benefit calculations
  • Communicate with active and inactive Plan participants regarding general inquiries, application completion, and benefit explanations.
  • Communicate with retirees concerning address changes, death notices, direct deposit/stop payment of monthly checks, and health benefits.
  • Assist active and inactive Plan participants and retirees visiting the Fund Office for retirement and/or retiree health coverage information.
  • Respond to plan participant/retiree authorized legal correspondence, e.g. involving divorce or bankruptcy.
  • Document files to be moved offsite for scanning/storage and facilitate scheduled pickups.
  • Handle incoming/outgoing mail and distribute accordingly.
  • Assist in mass mailings and tracking of returned correspondence.
  • Assist in tracking of existing retirees or vested participants to monitor deaths and determine if payments should continue to spouse or beneficiary.
  • Maintain logs of applications mailed/received, statements completed.

· Research employment histories to determine member eligibility.

  • Other duties may be assigned from time to time.

Education Requirements:

  • Associates Degree - Bachelors preferred

Relevant Experience:

· 2-3 years of pension or other retirement-related administration preferred
