Duties or Activities Required by Job (in order of importance):
1. Answer the telephone, give direction to walk in customers.
2. Communicate provisions of retirement plan to active employees and retirees upon request.
3. Review daily Obituary on Commercial Appeals for MLGW retiree or active employee notices.
4. Notify departments via email to appropriate parties of retiree and survivor deaths.
5. Handle and process incoming and outgoing mail.
6. Handle customer inquiries on missed pension payments, research and resolve issues.
7. Attend Pension Board Meetings.
8. Prepare Pension Board minutes of the Pension Board Meetings.
9. Research and process overpayment, collect overpayment, deposit of funds.
10. Process the verification letter requested by retirees, survivors, or active employees.
11. Scan and compile retirees, survivors, refund, etc. data to store in Web Extender and archive (warehouse).
12. Research and process retiree and survivor data received on PBI (Pension Benefit Information) report for discrepancies.
13. Compile data for actuarial valuation.
14. Process address/beneficiary/bank/tax information changes in Oracle System.
15. Calculate service and process rehab benefits.
16. Manually compute, research, assist, and process termination benefit (refund).
17. Research, calculate, and process deferred pension benefits.
18. Process pension payroll semi-monthly for life insurance annuity, child support, tax levies, credit union, etc. in Oracle system.
19. Provide guidance to IT in design, development, testing, and administration of pension processes in Oracle and other HR systems.
20. Function as liaison with Personnel, Corporate Communications, Legal (internal and external), Payroll, Treasury Management, Audits, and other Departments regarding pension benefits.
21. Assist and provide information to external Legal team upon request for PADRO, verification of death benefit, etc.
22. Research and prepare pension contributions verification requests, respond to court subpoenas, and make court appearances.
23. Process correspondence such as Retiree Digest, SSA letters, Overpayment letters, Student Verification letters, Survivor packets, Refund Packets, etc.
24. Assist the Supervisor and Accountants with special projects.
25. Serve as a backup in the event one of the two Pension Specialists is absent.
26. Other duties as directed.
