As a People Manager, Data Engineering you will lead and support our growing team of Data Engineers. This crucial role is dedicated entirely to the operational and professional development of our engineering talent, enabling our technical leaders and architects to focus purely on delivery, technical excellence, and strategic growth. In this role, you will:
Serve as the primary point of contact and advocate for Data Engineering team, providing mentorship, guidance, and support
Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance team culture
Address team member concerns, resolve minor conflicts, and escalate complex issues appropriately
Conduct regular 1:1 meetings with each team member to discuss performance, challenges, and career aspirations
Facilitate performance reviews, gather 360-degree feedback, and communicate constructive feedback effectively
Develop and monitor individual growth plans and learning paths, identifying relevant training and development opportunities for junior team members
Collaborate with technical leadership to identify skill gaps and align training with project needs
Manage project allocations for your team, ensuring optimal utilization and aligning skills with project requirements
Track and approve team members' time cards accurately and efficiently
Monitor current project statuses from a people perspective, understanding workload and potential burnout, and communicating risks to relevant stakeholders
Stay informed about upcoming opportunities to proactively plan resource availability.
Utilise HRMS tools for onboarding, offboarding, leave management, and other administrative tasks for your team
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Assist with internal communications, disseminating company updates and gathering team feedback
Contribute to broader practice operations initiatives, potentially assisting with P&L related inputs from a people utilization standpoint
Support initiatives aimed at improving overall team efficiency and operational excellence within Data Engineering
In this role, you will have:
B.Tech degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Project Management or equivalent combination of relevant work experience and education
10+ years of experience in a people management, team lead, or project coordination role, ideally within a technology or consulting environment
Demonstrated experience managing team members, performance, and professional development
Strong understanding of operational aspects like resource allocation, time tracking, and project status reporting
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and trust
High level of empathy, emotional intelligence, and a genuine passion for people development
Proactive, organized, and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency with HRMS tools and project management software
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
