A Day in the Life of this Role:

Reporting to the Practice Manager, the Per Diem Patient Service Representative (PSR) ensures smooth patient flow and a positive experience for Outer Cape Health Services patients by greeting, registering, corresponding, and answering general questions at the front desk.

Summary of Duties:

  • Greet, register, and direct patients and visitors to the assigned Health Center.
  • Make and answer telephone calls at the assigned Health Center in a professional manner.
  • Maintain provider schedules, and schedule and reschedule patient appointments in accordance with the provider’s schedule.
  • Correspond with patients utilizing letters, electronic communication, and phone calls while also distributing to appropriate individuals (ensuring confidentiality of medical information).
  • Monitoring Patient Portal communication with patients.
  • Scan medical record documents.
  • Conduct insurance eligibility and verification utilizing insurance websites and search engines.
  • Ensure patient demographic and billing information is accurate.
  • Collect co-pays and account balances.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, as required, to meet the needs of the Health Center.
  • Ensure all patient questionnaires are completed upon check-in. Ensure these questionnaires are available to the clinical team at the time of the visit.
  • Other related duties and projects as assigned.
  • High school diploma required, college preferred.
  • 2 years of customer service experience; medical setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions, establish priorities, and escalate items, as appropriate, in a busy work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills—bilingual helpful.
  • Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality standards.
  • Ability to multi-task and reprioritize, as necessary.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Epic, Outlook, Microsoft Office, etc.

This range is provided to promote equity and transparency in our hiring process. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, internal equity, and other job-related criteria.
