Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Periodontal Assistant/Oral Surgery Assistant to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support advanced periodontal and oral surgery procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort while maintaining the highest standards of infection control and clinical efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess strong dental assisting skills, familiarity with electronic medical records, and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the periodontist and oral surgeon during surgical procedures, including implant placements, tissue grafts, and other periodontal treatments.
  • Prepare treatment rooms with sterile instruments and materials, adhering strictly to aseptic techniques.
  • Manage patient flow efficiently by taking vital signs, updating medical histories, and ensuring accurate medical documentation.
  • Operate dental imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners to obtain precise diagnostic images.
  • Maintain detailed and organized medical records in Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance at all times.
  • Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, managing suction devices, and supporting patient comfort throughout procedures.
  • Educate patients on post-operative care instructions, infection control protocols, and oral hygiene practices tailored to periodontal health.

Experience

  • Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting with a focus on periodontal or oral surgery procedures is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Dentrix/Dexis
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy relevant to dentistry, and infection control standards is essential.
  • Familiarity with pediatric dentistry concepts is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Experience with general dentistry procedures, including X-ray techniques and chairside assisting in complex cases, is beneficial.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to medical records confidentiality and data security. Pay: $19.00 - $26.00 per hour
