Position: Permanency Specialist
Classification: Part-Time, Non-Exempt (less than 19 hours per week)
Reports to: Program Manager

Position Description:

The Permanency Specialist will provide services to caregivers who are taking care of a child or children that are not biologically their own, as Kinship or Fictive-Kin caregivers, as adoptive parents, or families providing permanency to a child. These services will be provided in home, office, and community-based settings. The position will also coordinate training and collaborative opportunities with families and within the professional community. The Specialist may be required to provide limited case management to connect families with needed resources and support, as well as assist the Program Manager in marketing, enrolling, and providing services for clients and referrals to the community.

POSITION SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

  • Facilitate support and education focused groups with caregivers through training and peer to peer interactions.
  • Screen potential referrals for eligibility into DePelchin programs.
  • Provide referrals and resource information to KNP clients.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and timely data needed for program accountability and program initiation for all services.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and timely data entry needed for program accountability for all programs.
  • Participate in relevant local and state training and activities; participate in DCC committee work as assigned.
  • Contribute to relevant team and supervision meetings for KNP, Prevention Services, Agency, and the assigned services under this position.
  • Provide occasional community education presentations on the KNP services, as needed.
  • Answer informational requests and inquiries about the current services of KNP and of the agency.
  • Comply with all agency policies/procedures, COA Accreditation Standards, and all applicable licensing standards.
  • Participate in community outreach activities to educate the broader community about the Agency, our activities, and project.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain any certifications for fulfillment of job duties within six months of employment or sooner. Employment is contingent on completion of this requirement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Some experience in the social services industry.
  • Lived experience with kinship or fictive-kin a plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish. English required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Social Work practices.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a professional, confidential work environment.
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse populations and work force.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which vary according to client needs.

Work Conditions:

  • Environment: Remote, Community Settings
  • Range of Schedule: Mon – Fri, 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Occasional nights or weekends
  • Travel: Local
