Personal Assistant Caregiver (PRN)

Job Overview
Join our team as a compassionate Personal Assistant Caregiver providing support on a PRN / as-needed basis. Help individuals with daily activities, personal care, medication reminders, and household tasks while promoting independence and well-being. This flexible, paid role is perfect for those passionate about home health, long-term care, or assisting individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
  • Monitor patient health by checking vital signs, observing symptoms, and reporting changes promptly
  • Administer medications accurately following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient safety
  • Support clients with meal preparation, cooking nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs, and maintaining a clean living environment
  • Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or transfer devices to safely assist with mobility and heavy lifting tasks
  • Maintain detailed documentation of care provided, patient progress, and any incidents in accordance with privacy standards like HIPAA
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement personalized care plans for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's, autism, or other developmental disabilities

Requirements

  • Proven experience in home & community care, assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care environments
  • Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to monitor vital signs effectively
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid; additional certifications such as HIPAA compliance are highly valued
  • Familiarity with dementia care, memory care strategies, hospice care, and working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and working with mobility aids like Hoyer lifts or resident transfers
  • Strong communication skills for working closely with clients, families, and healthcare teams
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are preferred for community-based support roles
