Personal Banker

Position Summary: Open accounts, explain and process financial transactions, maintain current records and provide every individual coming in contact with Texas Republic Bank with a satisfying customer service experience.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Interview prospects and customers to obtain information, explain available financial services such as Savings and Checking accounts, Individual Retirement Accounts, Certificates of Deposit; educate prospects and customers as to the available Treasury Management services offered.
  • Assist prospects and customers with completing the new account application; and, is responsible for verifying the accuracy of the information before going through the process of preparing the account documentation required to open the account.
  • Completes the account opening process, including checking accounts, savings accounts, Certificates of Deposit, Individual Retirement Accounts and Safe Deposit boxes; this includes taking the initial opening deposit.
  • Assists the customer in selecting the additional products and services that best fit each customer's needs based on information provided at account application.
  • Follows up with customers after account opening to confirm services selected have been provided; answer any additional questions customer may have. Makes sure the services selected are working for the customer. Offer additional services should there be a need expressed.
  • Follow established department and company guidelines to assure files are maintained and kept up to date.
  • Answer customer questions and investigates and corrects errors; work with appropriate bank staff as required when research is involved.
  • Assist customers with bank inquiries, transfers and on-line banking. Successfully uses these opportunities to educate the customer further in the use of bank offered products and services.
  • Admit customers to safe deposit box.
  • Work within a team to execute wire transfers of funds.
  • Cross-train for daily bookkeeping duties, including but not limited to working rejects, large items, insufficient report, stop pays, charge back, referral items and preparing morning Management Reports.
  • Maintain a teller drawer to provide back-up assistance for teller line; follow established guidelines for properly maintaining cash levels and balancing.
  • Work within a team to provide assistance to customers for wire transfers, remote deposit capture, external transfers, mobile banking, online banking and ACH.
  • Work with other lobby staff to greet those coming into the bank or calling the bank with a friendly, welcoming attitude. Make sure everyone coming in or calling experiences "Banking like it oughta be!"
  • Be available to help staff in other branches with daily duties; this may include occasionally working in other bank branches if the need arises.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Accounting software; Email; Internet software; and Database software.
