Position Summary
The Personal Banker serves as a trusted financial partner to customers by delivering exceptional service, building long-term relationships, and providing personalized banking solutions. In a community bank environment, this role emphasizes local engagement, customer education, and consultative selling while supporting branch operations and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers by understanding their financial needs and goals
- Open and service consumer deposit accounts, including checking, savings, certificates of deposit, and IRAs
- Identify opportunities to recommend appropriate banking products and services such as loans, credit cards, smart cards, digital banking, etc.
- Conduct needs-based conversations and financial reviews to support customer financial well-being
- Process routine transactions and provide account maintenance support accurately and efficiently
- Assist customers with online and mobile banking tools, promoting digital adoption
- Ensure compliance with all bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (BSA, AML, CIP, OFAC, etc.)
- Participate in community events, relationship-building activities, and local outreach as needed
- Collaborate with branch staff to achieve individual and team performance goals
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all customer interactions
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- 1–3 years of experience in retail banking, financial services, or customer-facing sales role preferred
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and listening skills
- Demonstrated ability to build trust and rapport with customers
- Basic knowledge of consumer banking products and services
- Proficiency with banking systems, Microsoft Office, and digital tools
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a community bank or local financial institution
- Prior account opening and/or consumer lending experience
- Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements
- 1-3 years of retail experience is a plus
