Personal Care Aide

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Aide to join our team in providing exceptional support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. This vital role involves delivering personalized care that promotes independence, dignity, and well-being. As a Personal Care Aide, you will work closely with clients in various settings such as assisted living facilities, home health environments, group homes, and long-term care centers. Your energy, empathy, and attention to detail will make a meaningful difference in the lives of those you serve.

Duties

  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to ensure comfort and hygiene.
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health status, reporting findings accurately to healthcare professionals.
  • Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans established by healthcare providers.
  • Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning patient areas and laundry.
  • Use specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts or transfer belts to safely assist with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when required.
  • Document patient progress, care activities, and observations meticulously to ensure continuity of care and compliance with regulations.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to foster a positive environment for residents or clients.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams, social workers, and family members to develop and implement personalized care plans.
  • Assist with hospice or dementia care needs, including memory care strategies for individuals with Alzheimer's or other cognitive impairments.

Requirements

  • Prior experience working in assisted living, nursing homes, home health care, or group homes is highly preferred.
  • Certification in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and First Aid is required; ongoing training encouraged.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure client confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as heavy lifting, patient transfers using Hoyer lifts, and assisting with mobility.
  • Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and recognizing changes in health or behavior.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, or memory care needs is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
