Personal Care Aide

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Aide to join our team in providing exceptional support and care to individuals in various living environments, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and home care settings. In this vital role, you will assist residents with daily activities, monitor their health and well-being, and ensure a safe, comfortable, and respectful environment. Duties

  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
  • Monitor patient vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior, reporting findings accurately to nursing staff or supervisors
  • Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans established by healthcare professionals
  • Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning to meet individual dietary needs
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring infection control protocols are followed
  • Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident’s <PERSON> to safely transfer individuals with mobility challenges
  • Document patient observations, care provided, and any incidents diligently in compliance with privacy standards like HIPAA

Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home health care is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of patient care techniques including assisting with ADLs, medication administration, and vital signs measurement
  • Familiarity with dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, hospice care, autism support, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities in general
  • Certifications such as CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), First Aid, and HIPAA compliance are preferred but not mandatory; training can be provided
  • Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks required for resident transfers or mobility assistance
  • Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and reporting changes promptly
  • Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills to work effectively with residents, families, and healthcare teams
