Personal Care Aide

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
  • Monitor residents’ health status by observing vital signs and overall condition; report changes promptly to nursing staff
  • Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans established by healthcare professionals
  • Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning to meet individual dietary needs and preferences
  • Maintain cleanliness of residents’ living areas and assist with light housekeeping tasks to promote a hygienic environment
  • Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or transfer belts to safely move residents with mobility challenges
  • Engage residents in social activities and provide companionship to enhance emotional well-being and reduce feelings of isolation
  • Document observations, care provided, and any incidents accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in home & community care, assisted living, nursing home, or long-term care settings is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs monitoring, and medication administration
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional training in Alzheimer's care, dementia care, or hospice care is a plus
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or memory impairments is advantageous
  • Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physically demanding tasks as needed
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare teams and family members
  • Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to provide respectful and patient-centered care
