Personal Care Aide (PCA)
Must be available to work BOTH 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm Shifts!
The Personal Care Aide provides direct assistance and support to residents in a personal care facility. Responsibilities include helping residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), promoting independence, ensuring resident safety, and providing compassionate care in accordance with facility policies and state regulations.
Assist residents with personal hygiene activities, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
Help residents with mobility, transfers, ambulation, and positioning as needed.
Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and monitoring dietary needs.
Observe and report changes in residents' physical, emotional, or mental conditions to supervisors.
Remind residents to take medications as directed by facility policies (if permitted by state regulations).
Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment for residents.
Assist residents with recreational, social, and therapeutic activities.
Respond promptly to resident call systems and requests for assistance.
Document care provided and resident observations accurately and timely.
Follow infection control, safety, and emergency procedures.
Treat residents with dignity, respect, and confidentiality at all times.
Work collaboratively with nurses, supervisors, families, and other healthcare team members.
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Med Tech Certified preferred
Previous caregiving, personal care, healthcare, or senior care experience preferred but not always required.
Compassion and patience when working with elderly or disabled individuals.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Basic observation and documentation skills.
Ability to safely assist residents with mobility and transfers.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to assist residents with transfers and mobility.
Ability to work extended periods on feet and perform repetitive tasks.
Work is performed in a personal care facility environment.
May include exposure to infectious diseases and bodily fluids.
Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
Successful completion of background checks and any required state clearances.
Current CPR and First Aid certification (if required by facility policy).
Completion of mandatory training and continuing education requirements.
Demonstrate dependable attendance and punctuality.
Provide resident-centered care with professionalism and compassion.
Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain positive relationships with residents, families, and coworkers.
Reports To: Personal Care Home Administrator, Resident Care Supervisor, or Charge Nurse
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
