Personal Care Assistant

Overview
Join our dedicated team as a Personal Care Assistant and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring compassionate support and personalized care. In this vital role, you will provide assistance with daily activities, ensure safety, and promote independence for residents in various care settings. Your energy, empathy, and attention to detail will help create a warm, supportive environment where clients feel valued and cared for every day.

Duties

  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
  • Monitor patients’ health by observing vital signs, reporting changes, and maintaining accurate care documentation
  • Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans established by healthcare professionals
  • Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary
  • Operate equipment such as Hoyer lifts or wheelchairs to ensure safe patient transfers and mobility assistance
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, fostering a positive community atmosphere

Experience

  • Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and hospice care practices
  • Familiarity with working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA compliance are advantageous
  • Experience with medication administration, care planning, and patient monitoring is beneficial
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate medical equipment like Hoyer lifts or vital signs monitors
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams, social workers, families, and residents
