Personal Computer Support Technician

Job Summary

A Personal Computer Support Technician provides technical assistance to users experiencing issues with computer hardware, software, and related equipment. The technician installs, maintains, and repairs computer systems, ensures proper system functionality, and assists users in resolving technical problems to maintain productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, andmaintaindesktop and laptop computers, operating systems, and applications.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network connectivity issues.
  • Provide technical support to users in person, over the phone, or via remote tools.
  • Set up andmaintainperipheral devices such as printers, scanners, and external drives.
  • Perform system updates, patches, and regular maintenance to ensureoptimalperformance.
  • Document technical issues, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in ticketing systems.
  • Assistwith network configuration and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Install andmaintainantivirus and security software to protect systems.
  • Train users on basic computer operations and best practices.
  • Maintain inventory of IT equipment andassistwith hardware replacements or upgrades.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (preferred).
  • CompTIA A+ or similar technical certification is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, and networking concepts.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience supporting Windows and macOS operating systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and common productivity software.
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN networking basics.
  • Experience with remote support tools and help desk ticketing systems.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.

Work Environment

This position typically operates in an office or technical support environment. The technician may occasionally travel within the organization to provide on-site support and may be required to lift or move computer equipment.
